Kuala Lumpur: World No. 10 Jan Jorgensen’s injury woes continue as he withdrew from this year’s World Championships.

In the latest setback to an already underperformed season, Jorgensen was forced to pull out from the World meet on Tuesday because of a recurring heel injury.

Jorgensen’s health has become a major concern during a deflating season in which he has played in only three tournaments so far this year. He lost in the second round at the All England in March, went down to Kidambi Srikanth in the second round of Indonesia Open, and was forced to retire half way through the decider against Indonesia’s Anthony Ginting in the first round of the Australian Open.

With Jorgensen’s withdrawal, Emil Host has accepted the invitation from Badminton World Federation (BWF) to join fellow-Danes Viktor Axelsen, Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus and Anders Antonsen in Glasgow, Scotland.
