Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo to play Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan in fifth final battle of the year at Denmark Open final

Odense: One title will certainly be won by the Indonesian team at the 2019 Denmark Open when its two men’s doubles pairs, when World No. 1 Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and World No. 2 Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan will take on each other in the Denmark Open final on Sunday.

Sunday’s face off will be the fifth final meeting between the two in 2019, and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon have won all of the previous four match-ups.

“Tonight we will be studying their game again. Maybe we will try a new strategy, but we also don’t know what kind of game plan they will be playing,” said Ahsan after Saturday’s match.

Gideon/Sukamuljo defeated Lu Ching Yao/Yang Po Han of Taiwan 21-16, 21-11 to enter the final while Setiawan/Ahsan overcame Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda 21-19, 19-21, 21-15 in the semifinals.

“We are certainly pleased with today’s victory. They are formidable opponents. We have played each other many times, and the key to our victory was because we tried to focus on our game,” said Setiawan.

In men’s singles, World No. 1 Kento Momota saw off Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia 21-12, 21-19 to enter the final. Momota will take on Chen Long of China on Sunday. Chen on the other hand, came back from dropping the first set to beat Viktor Axelsen of Denmark 12-21, 21-14, 21-19.
