Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, Liew Daren enter Spanish Masters semis

Barcelona: Malaysia’s No. 2 seeds men’s pair Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik looked in control to secure their places in the 2020 Spain Masters semi-finals after seeing off No. 6 seeds Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Seidel of Germany 21-18, 21-13 in 30 minutes.

Chia/Soh will play No. 4 seeds Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark on Saturday.

In men’s singles, Daren Liew of Malaysia survived the spirited battle from No. 5 seed Rasmus Gemke of Denmark by winning 16-21, 21-17, 21-17. Liew will take on No. 1 seed Viktor Axelsen next.

Axelsen, on the other hand, defeated compatriot and No. 7 seed Jan O Jorgensen 21-8, 21-5 on Friday.

The mixed doubles No. 1 seeds Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Jemie Lai stopped their journey in the quarter-finals after losing to unseeded Kim Sa Rang/Kim Ha Na of Korea 18-21, 18-21.

The Korean mixed doubles pair will meet Mathias Bay-Smidt/Rikke Soby of Denmark in the final four.
