China’s Wang Lin to receive surgery abroad

CHANGZHOU, China, Sept. 17 — Newly-crowned women’s badminton world champion Wang Lin of China has suffered serious injuries to her left thigh and will receive surgery abroad, said head coach Li Yongbo here on Friday.

Wang, who won the women’s singles title at the world championship this year, suffered the crack of anterior cruciate ligament of her left thigh during the first round of the China Masters Super Series badminton tournament, and will be out for the rest of the year, said the head coach.

Her recovery is expected to be at least six months.
