Kuala Lumpur: When Badminton World Federation (BWF)’s proposal in changing badminton’s scoring system from the current 21 x 3 system to 11 x 5 system was narrowly defeated by falling just one vote shy of gaining the two-thirds majority required to amend the laws, many people were wondering which countries had voted against the proposal.
Prior to the vote, the 11 x 5 scoring system was supported by Badminton Indonesia, the Badminton Association of Maldives seconded by Badminton Asia, Badminton Korea Association, Chinese Taipei Badminton Association, and Badminton Europe.
A total of 282 votes were cast last Saturday, and here are the countries that voted against the 11 x 5 scoring system which was unpopular among many coaches, players, and badminton fans.
