Kuala Lumpur: Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) general manager Kenny Goh is speculated will be leaving the association after serving more than seven years to join the Badminton Asia Confederation (BAC) also as its general manager.
Kenny, 49, who joined BAM in early 2007, is said to have voiced his intention verbally to BAM’s top leadership and is just awaiting the official offer letter from BAC before submitting his resignation notice.
Kenny’s decision does not come as a surprise as he had been linked to the post early last year before deciding to stay with BAM.
While the post at BAC was vacant, its assistant general manager, ST Arasu was also dismissed at the same time.
The latest offer to Kenny is believed to have been made after BAC settled Arasu’s case out-of-court after the former journalist took legal action to refer the matter to the Industrial Court.
When contacted, Kenny declined to confirm or deny the news, saying: “I have no comments.”
BAM deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria said BAM had not been notified about this by Kenny.
“We know BAC need an individual like Kenny who has wide experience in badminton administration. The BAC office is also located here (Kuala Lumpur).
“But BAM still needs Kenny. He is very experienced in BAM matters and we still need him,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
Apart from playing an important role in the administration of BAM, Kenny also enjoys good relations with national players and coaches and in fact when he was linked to the post last year, national badminton ace Datuk Lee Chong Wei had also urged him to stay with BAM.
