Chong Wei Wins National Badminton GP Final

ALOR STAR, Dec 12 (Bernama) — World number one Datuk Lee Chong Wei beat Chong Wei Feng 21-11, 21-13 to lift the trophy at the National Badminton Grand Prix Final at the Kedah Badminton Hall, here Friday night.

Chong Wei easily won the first set 21-11 but was made to work harder in the second set winning 21-13 in 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, the men’s doubles pair of Chan Peng Soon/Lim Khim Wah beat Goh Wei Shem/Ong Jian Guo 21-14, 20-22, 21-11.

In the women’s singles, Julia Wong Pei Xian was stretched to three sets before beating Lydia Cheah Li Ya 21-19, 7-21, 21-10 in 43 minutes.

The tournament which started on Tuesday, was organised by the Kedah Badminton Association and offered a total prize money of RM84,000.

Lee Chong Wei bt Chong Wei Feng 21-11, 21-13

MEN’S DOUBLES:

Chan Peng Soon/Lim Khim Wah bt Goh Wei Shem/Ong Jian Guo 21-14, 20-22, 21-11.

WOMEN’S SINGLES:

Julia Wong bt Lydia Cheah Li Ya 21-19, 7-21, 21-10

WOMEN’S DOUBLES:

Goh Liu Ying/Ng Hui Lin bt Chong Sook Chin/Woon Khe Wei 21-16, 14-21, 21-19

MIXED DOUBLES:

Koo Kien Keat/Ng Hui Lin bt Tan Wee Kiong/Woon Khe Wei 22-20 21-19
