Kuala Lumpur: Fought back from a set down, the 2013 Asian Junior champion Soo Teck Zhi lived up to his billing on Tuesday to beat 10th seed Vladimir Malkov of Russia in the first round of the Macau Open 10-21, 21-10, 21-14 in 45 minutes.
Rajiv Ouseph of England needed just 21 minutes to dispose of Malaysian shuttler Kuan Beng Hong to ease through to the second round of the Macau Open.
Both independent Malaysian shuttlers Zulfadli Zulkiffli and Mohd Arif Abdul Latif also did well to advance to the second round on Wednesday.
However, former Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) international Tan Chun Seang was forced to concede the match due to injury.
