Misbun Sidek signs two-year contract with BAM

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s badminton icon Misbun Sidek is looking forward to July 3rd for his first training session with the Malaysian badminton team after being appointed by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) earlier this month.

Misbun who left BAM in 2011, signed a two-year contract with BAM on Wednesday. Lee Chong Wei was also present to witness the contract signing ceremony.

However, Misbun Sidek has a tall task ahead, which is to prepare Lee Chong Wei prior to the World Championships in Glasgow, August this year.

“As a former coach, I will work with him to deliver what I dreamed of as a player,” said Misbun Sidek.

Misbun Sidek also stressed that he would design this training routines and intensities to suit younger players and their technical ability.

“This place is a new place, there’s a lot to be prepared before getting started,” Sidek added.

After the contract signing ceremony, BAM President Mohamad Norza Zakaria said that BAM would not rule out the possibility of allowing Sidek to accompany Lee Chong Wei to the World Championships in August.

“We will give Misbun absolute freedom to decide whatever he wants,” said Zakaria.
