“The men’s singles category is really wide open right now. There are many players who could do well in this category,” said Axelsen.

“I need to clear a lot of hurdles on my way to win the World Championships. Kidambi Srikanth of India, Lee Chong Wei, Lin Dan, and Chen Long remain serious threats to me,” added Axelsen.

With less than two weeks away from the World Championships, Axelsen who just recovered from a foot injury, has been training hard and was excited for the World Championships.

“I’ve had few problems with my foot, but it is under control right now. I am trying to regain my rhythm and hopefully I can be fit and in good form during the tournament.”

“I have always dreamt of becoming world champion since I was a little kid. Winning the World Championship would be a huge achievement of my career.”
