Jakarta: Indonesia Badminton Association’s (PBSI) head of development and achievement, Susi Susanti who is also Indonesia’s team manager for SEA Games, said Indonesia is ready to win gold medals in men’s group, men’s doubles, and men’s singles categories at the 29th SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur.
“Our shuttlers have completed the training and ready to take on the challenges in Kuala Lumpur,” said the Indonesian badminton legend, Susi Susanti.
PBSI has a lot of hope that Jonatan Christie can take home the men’s singles gold, while Greysia Polii and Apriani Rahayu are expected to at least make the women’s doubles semi-finals.
“I am physically ready, but I need to learn on how to deal with the pressure,” said Christie.
“I spoke to a psychologist, and I was told not to focus too much on it,” added Christie.
Christie also admitted that he tend to get nervous playing against a more senior opponents. But this time, he said he is well prepared to face tough matches against players from Malaysia and Thailand.
Indonesia had won the men’s team, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles golds at the 28th SEA Games in Singapore in 2015.
