Zulfadli Zulkiffli, Chan Peng Soon/Cheah Yee See enter Macau Open semis

Macau: Malaysia’s independent player and No. 10 seed Zulfadli Zulkiffli was forced to work hard for a win at the Macau Open as he fought back to beat Taiwanese Shih Kuei Chun 15-21, 21-18, 21-6 in his quarter-final on Friday.

The former world junior champion, chasing his first title of the year, will take on No. 14 seed Ihsan Maulana Mustofa of Indonesia in the semi-finals.

Unseeded Kento Momota of Japanese also breezed through to the semi-finals by defeating compatriot and No. 6 seed Kanta Tsuneyama 21-9, 21-15 and will meet No. 3 seed Lee Hyun Il of Korea on Saturday.

In mixed doubles, Malaysia’s Chan Peng Soon-Cheah Yee See continued their strong run in the Macau Open on Friday when they saw off Singapore’s No. 3 seeds Terry Hee Yong Kai/Tan Wei Han 21-18, 21-10. They are going to play China’s No. 5 seeds Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong in the semi-finals.
