China’s Qiu Yanbo defeated by Malaysian player in Indonesian badminton championship

JAKARTA, June 16 (Xinhua) — Chinese player Qiu Yanbo lost his chance from playing further in men’s single category of Indonesia Open 2009 super series after defeated by Malaysian player Ben Hong Quan here on Tuesday.

    The Chinese player, ranking 63rd in Badminton World Federation’s (BWF) ranking, lost the match in three games with scores of 21 18, 1721 and 721.

    Meanwhile, a Chinese team manager told reporters that Singapore Open 2009 champion, Bao Chunlai, failed to take part in the sixth super series tournament sanctioned by BWF.

    "Bao Chunlai suffered from injuries after the recent competition in Singapore," he said in a hurry without mentioning his name after Qiu Yanbo’s match.

    According to the match list issued by the organizer, the name of the world’s number 16th was replaced by another Chinese player Lu Yi.
