China’s badminton coach satisfied with results at World C’ships

China have taken four out of the five titles at the World Badminton Championships in Hyderabad, India. Li Yongbo, head coach of the national team, said he was satisfied with his players’ performance.

Among the winners: women’s singles champion Lu Lan, and men’s singles champion Lin Dan. It’s Lin’s third straight title in the world championships.

The man known as "Super Dan" is also the reigning Olympic champion, and he confirmed his status the world’s best male badminton athlete.

Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng took the men’s doubles championship, and Zhang Yawen and Zhao Tingting combined to win the womens’ doubles. The only title China missed was the mixed doubles. Denmark won it.

Li Yongbo, Coach of China’s badminton Team, said,

"We made two major achievements in this competition. First, we won four gold medals and three silver medals, which I think is a very good result in the 21-point system. Second, the veteran players maintained their athletic performance while the younger players are growing and maturing."

Some of the veteran players might choose to retire after October’s National Games. Li wished them good luck, and hoped they can enjoy the game as much as possible after bringing glory to the country on the world stage.
