Carolina Marin on the path to recovery from torn ACL

Barcelona: Reigning Olympic and world champion Carolina Marin of Spain who ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament of her right knee during the Indonesia Masters final on January 27,2019 when she was up against Saina Nehwal in Jakarta, has begun variety of physical rehabilitation programs to stimulate some function-restoring movements to her legs.

The Spaniard tweeted a video of her doing some basic training without using crutches. She captioned the tweet as “Day 90 – Three months after the surgery… Bye, bye crutches!! 👋😉”

Speaking to BWF, Marin said that: “I am making good progress in my recovery, although I don’t know how long it will take me to recover 100%, but I am happy with the progress.”

“When I was informed about the torn ACL injury, I was really sad and cried. Then I said to myself that things happened, so I need to think positively. The road to recovery would require patience.”

“I have confidence in myself and my team. They support me every day. My focus is to restore my knees to 100%. When I return to the game, I hope to be at 100% and able to give my best.”

Marin also thanked her fans for their continued support during the difficult time.
