Johar Bahru, Dec 2 India’s Saina Nehwal lost her opening round match to Malaysian Mew Choo Wong at the World Super series Masters Final badminton here Wednesday.
Saina, who has got the top billing in the tournament after the pull out by top players [^], went down 13-21, 21-13, 14-21 in a tough Group A encounter.
Saina will now have to win both her Group matches against Porntip Buranaprasertsuk of Thailand and Canadian Charmaine Reid to make it to the semifinal.
India’s mixed doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and V. Diju also went down to England’s Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg 15-21, 16-21 in 27 minutes.
