Jakarta: Shuttlers at the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) including Fajar Alfian, Greysia Polii, Jonatan Christie, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and many more have worked hand in hand to help people affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
They have donated food such as rice, instant noodles, sugar, cooking oil and various basic needs to be distributed to delivery drivers, parking attendants and workers who were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In addition to food, we also donated a lot of personal protective equipment such as facemasks, hand sanitizers, and other household disinfectants,” said Fajar Alfian, Indonesia’s World No. 6 men’s doubles player.
“We hope that these donations could provide some sort of relief to those affected by the coronavirus outbreak,” added Alfian.
Alfian wished the pandemic could end soon, because not only that the COVID-19 virus was life-threatening, but has also caused economy in many countries screeching to a halt.
“This pandemic problem is not only in Indonesia, but all over the world. Hopefully the epidemic would end soon, I have not able to return to competition, and to meet my family. I have long been unable to go home to meet family because of this outbreak,” explained Alfian.
Fajar also expressed his concern at seeing the surge in casualties. As of Sunday night, coronavirus cases in Indonesia has reached 6,575, with total deaths of 582.
