Jakarta: Anthony Sinisuka Ginting proved he was the best at the PBSI Home Tournament as the World No. 6 men’s singles player defeated World No. 18 Shesar Hiren Rhustavito in two straight games, 21-19, 21-15 in the final.
Ginting was in brilliant form throughout the Mola TV PBSI Home Tournament as he has never even lost a game. A lot of people were anticipating the final clash between Ginting and World No. 7 Jonatan Christie, however, Christie suffered a muscle cramp in the semi-final and had to retire halfway through the game.
“Thanks God that I finished this tournament well. The key was, trying to enjoy the game even though this was a home tournament, but I considered it to be an official tournament, especially it’s been almost four months where there were no international tournaments. I am fully prepared mentally and physically,” said Ginting.
Ginting was off to slow start in the first game, but was able to catch up and took the first game 21-19.
“I was a little impatient at the beginning and wanted to attack but Shesar’s defense was really good,” added Ginting.
Despite his strong performances at the tournament, Ginting remained humble and said he would continue to work hard to get ready when the international tournaments resume in September.
“I have to reduce my own mistakes, and need to be more focus,” explained Ginting.
Meanwhile, Rhustavito said that Ginting was more tactical and efficient in carrying out attacks.
“In the first game, I was leading and but then lost focus, giving a lot of easy points to Anthony. In the second game, I wanted to speed up the game but I was less tactical than Anthony,” said Shesar.
