The 2020 Thomas and Uber Cup Finals Cancelled

Kuala Lumpur: The Badminton World Federation (BWF) was increasingly concerned by the wave of withdrawals by top badminton countries such as top-seeded Indonesia, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Australia, and Russia from the prestigious 2020 Thomas and Uber Cup Finals that will be held in Aarhus, Denmark from Oct 3-11, and has decided to postpone the biennial events after the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

During the BWF virtual emergency council meeting that was conducted on Sunday, majority of the members have agreed to postpone the 2020 Thomas and Uber Cup Finals to 2021.

According to sources attended the meeting, BWF will soon release an official announcement about the rescheduling of the 2020 Thomas and Uber Cup Finals.

The postponement will undoubtedly cause confusion to some countries as the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) had planned to simulate Thomas and Uber Cup Finals competition on September 16th to September 17th by splitting the men’s and women’s teams to Team A and Team B.
