England have been set an ambitious target of four medals at next week’s European Championships in Manchester.

Denmark will go into the tournament – which takes place at the M.E.N Arena from April 14-18 – as favourites to top the medal table after success in both singles and doubles at last month’s All England Championships.

But England’s management will be heartened by new-partner performances in the mixed doubles at Birmingham and Ian Moss, Badminton England Performance Director, believes that his contingent can also pick up one gold. Jenny Wallwork and Gabby White celebrate a victory at All England Championships

Moss said: “We have set ourselves this target as an achievable but difficult challenge.

“I’m confident that if we can get our top players playing at the best of their ability then the Europeans will be a very successful tournament for us.

Playing events of this magnitude on home soil is a great boost for the players as well as the country’s badminton fans and I hope we will have a lot to be happy about come April.”
