World number one Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia is into Friday’s quarter-finals at the China Open badminton tournament in Shanghai after an easy win over Japan’s Kenichi Tago. 
Also through is world number three Lin Dan. He will meet Denmark’s Jan O Jorgensen who is currently battling for an Olympic spot.
World number five Chen Jin will meet number two Chen Long in an all-China affair also on Friday.
In the women’s event, five of the eight quarter-final spots are taken by Chinese players. Among the highlights, world number three Wang Xin meets qualifier Yao Xue, and number two Wang Yihan faces Bulgaria’s Petra Nedelcheva.
