KUALA LUMPUR: Former doubles ace Razif Sidek is one of the big names to have applied for the position of Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) high performance director.
Razif delivered the application form to BAM yesterday — six days after the association advertised the vacancy in local newspapers.
Asked why he was interested in the post, Razif, who won the country’s first Olympic medal – a bronze at the 1992 Barcelona Games with brother Jalani said: “I hope to bring glory for the nation in the Olympic Games. Let us see how it goes.”
Razif’s good friend Datuk James Selvaraj currently holds the post on a part-time basis. The BAM exco had decided that they wanted a full-time director to chart the course of Malaysian badminton.
James will have to apply for the job if he wishes to continue on a full-time basis. Looks like the battle for the ‘hot seat’ has begun.
