Rosman Razak Joins The Philippine Badminton Association as Head Coach

Kuala Lumpur: Rosman Razak who left the Association of Malaysia (BAM) at the end of 2020, was hired by the Philippine Badminton Association (PBA) as their head coach in November 2021.

Razak and Chin Ee Hui were instrumental in guiding Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei of Malaysia to win the women’s doubles gold medal at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. He was also the person who paired up the World No. 15 women’s doubles pair – Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan after Tan was struggling with several other partners including Yap Ling, Lim Chiew Sien, and Teoh Mei Xing.

Speaking to Malaysian media, Razak said he is being tasked to help Filipino shuttlers to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“Although the Philippines is not a strong country in badminton, but after three months here, I noticed they actually have some talented players,” said Razak.

“This is a big responsibility for me, of course, I will do my best to help them reach the goal,” added Razak.

Rozak who is currently supervising 5 local coaches, said what really sets PBA apart from other badminton associations was PBA’s sincerity.

“I decided to accept the offer from PBA was because of their determination to get my service even though there were offers from other countries as well. In addition, PBA also really focused on trying to qualify their players for the Paris Olympics,” added Razak.

In 2018 Razak also helped Vivian Hoo/Chow Mei Kuan to win gold at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
