Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik & Five Other Malaysian Doubles Pairs Qualify For BWF World Tour Finals

Kuala Lumpur: A total of six Malaysian doubles pairs have qualified for the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Finals that will take place in Bangkok from December 7 to December 11.

Despite not being in the top eight of the World Tour Finals rankings, the reigning World Champions – Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik who are in No. 9 of the World Tour Finals rankings, made the cut after Indonesia which has three men’s doubles pairs in the top eight rankings, could only send maximum of two pairs to the year-end event based on the BWF regulations.

In addition to Chia/Soh, Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi who finished runners-up at last week’s Australian Open will also appear in the Finals.

Also eligible were World No. 9 women’s doubles pair and the 2022 French Open champions – Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan together with World No. 24 Vivian Hoo/Lim Chiew Sien

Malaysia’s two independent mixed doubles pairs, World No. 8 Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing and World No. 11 Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Jemie Lai are also set to compete in the Finals.
