Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan Advance To The 2023 Indonesia Masters Semi-Finals

Jakarta: After making the semi-finals of the India Open last Saturday, Malaysia’s World No. 6 Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan advanced to their second consecutive semi-final in two weeks, by beating China’s World No. 93 Li Wen Mei/Liu Xuan Xuan 21-10, 21-12 in the Indonesia Masters quarter-finals action which lasted 37 minutes at the Istora Senayan Stadium, Jakarta on Friday.

Tan/Muralitharan are scheduled to play World No. 11 Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota of Japan next. The Malaysian pair had a breakthrough season in 2022 by winning the French Open and the women’s doubles gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

In men’s doubles, Malaysia’s reigning World Champions Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik have to continue their wait by winning a title in the BWF World Tour competition when they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by the World No. 21 Chinese duo He Ji Ting/Zhou Hao Dong, losing in straight sets 17-21, 10-21 in 39 minutes.

Malaysia’s mixed doubles No. 6 seeds Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Jemie Lai’s challenge at the Indonesia Open also came to a halt when they lost to Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue of France 16-21, 19-21.
