Cool V Shem believes he will be too hot for rivals to handle

DOUBLES shuttler Goh V Shem is one cool dude with big ambition.

And today, if he gets the chance to play with Lim Khim Wah in Malaysia’s crucial Group C tie against Germany, one can rest assured that he will fight with all his might.

Malaysia will have to beat Germany today to ensure a ticket for the quarter-finals on Thursday.

Only the top two teams in each group make the cut for the top eight and Malaysia are in a cliff-hanger situation after their shock 2-3 defeat to Taiwan on Sunday.

The biggest letdown in Malaysia’s defeat to Germany were top doubles shuttlers Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong.

The manner in which they lost did not go too well with the coaches and it is certain that they will be kept in “cold storage” for a while.

The coaches have the option of fielding V Shem-Khim Wah or Hoon Thien How-Tan Wee Kiong but the former’s recent victory over Kien Keat-Boon Heong in the final of the Malaysian Open Grand Prix Gold tournament two weeks ago is expected to tip the scales in their favour.

V Shem said that he had been preparing for the battle from the start.

“We are ready and if we are fielded, Khim Wah and I will give our best.

“Winning the Malaysian Open GP Gold is a good start and we hope to achieve more good results,” said V Shem. The duo may be fielded against Johaness Schoettler-Ingo Kindervater although they do not have a good record against them. The Malaysians lost to Germany’s top pair in the second round of the German Open in March this year.

Now, they have a platform to prove themselves and exact sweet revenge and all eyes will be on them whether they can live up to expectations and justify the coaches’ faith in them.
