KOO Kien Keat admits that he and Tan Boon Heong have been a letdown in the World Championships but has refused to give more hindsight on their future.
The pair, ranked second in the world, were once again not up to mark and were a major disappointment, easily losing 15-21, 16-21 to South Korea’s Kim Ki-jung-Kim Sa-rang in the quarter-finals.
It was their fourth defeat in all meetings to the young Korean pair, having also lost in the Malaysian and Japan Open last year and the India Open in April.
That defeat also means that Kien Keat-Boon Heong have failed the task given by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), which is to make the final at least.
It remains to be seen whether the pair, who severely fallen from grace in recent times, would still remain in the BAM setup after the world meet.
“We are disappointed ourselves. The Koreans had better control and somehow had more energy than us,” said Kien Keat.
“We tried everything but it did not work because we were doing all the running today.
“Our preparation were good but today we just couldn’t break their rhythm no matter how hard we tried to turn things around.
“As for our future, we will leave it to BAM. Let the new president (Tengku Tan Sri Mahaleel Tengku Ariff) decide on what to do with us,” added Kien Keat.
