Thomas Cup – Chong Wei: Fear No Korea!

New Delhi: Lee Chong Wei, the World No one shuttler wanted his teammates to keep their confidence high, stay cool and collected under pressure, and fear no one ahead of the Group C battle with South Korea on Wednesday. Winner of the game will top Group C.You can do it, Malaysia!

Malaysia needs that win in order to avoid seeded teams such as China or Indonesia in last eight. “Even though the Koreans are undoubtedly stronger in doubles, but they are beatable. We will try to score as much point as possible through singles,” said Chong Wei.

In the opener against Germany, Korea lost 2 points through Son Wan Ho vs. Marc Zwiebler,18-21 17-21, and Lee Dong Keun vs. Dieter Domke – 17-21 16-21; In their second game, Korea lost another 2 points against India through Lee Dong Keun vs. Kashyap Parupalli,17-21 14-21 and Soo Hwang Jong vs. Gurusaidutt R. M. V. – 22-24 13-21. On paper, Lee Dong Keun is the weakest link for Korea, they might not even play him on Wednesday. On the other hand, Daren Liew of Malaysia also failed to live up to expectation by losing both the Malaysian ties played so far.

“Everyone should stay focused and stay calm, we are a team, we are all in this together, and we are one fighting team!”

“If we all play at our best we are able to beat Korea,” added Chong Wei.
