Incheon: A fighting Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei went down to their Japanese rivals Ayaka Takahashi-Misaki Matsutomo 21-16, 21-17 in the women’s doubles badminton semi-finals to settle for their maiden bronze medal at the Incheon Asian Games on Friday. 
The Malaysian pair committed many unforced errors that let their chances of at least a silver medal slipped away in just 34 minutes.
This was Malaysia’s first badminton medal in women’s doubles since Rosalind Singha Ang-Teoh Siew Yong won it in the 1970 Bangkok Asian Games.
In men’s doubles, Malaysia’s unseeded of Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong scored a huge upset win against world number four pair- Hiroyuki Endo/Kenichi Hayakawa of Japan, winning straight sets 21-16 and 21-16 in 48 minutes. The Malaysian duo will clash with home favorite world number one Lee Yong Dae-Yoo Yeonseong in the semi-finals on Saturday. Lee Yong Dae-Yoo Yeonseong dispatched Indonesia’s Angga Pratama/Rian Agung Saputro 21-16 and 21-11 in another quarter-final.
The other men’s doubles semi-final will be between world number 2 Mohammad Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia against world number 5 Kim Gijung-Kim Sarang from Korea.
