Kuala Lumpur: The reigning Malaysian champion and the 2011 world junior champion, Zulfadli Zulkifli said he has no plans to join the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) in the near future.
Zulfadli believed he is capable of achieving success without BAM.
“I don’t mean to sound arrogant, but I feel comfortable and I am confident that I can achieve better results with my existing setup,” said Zulfadli.
Zulfadli is currently train under his father Zulkifli Sidek.
As for the reasons why he refused offer from BAM to join the national highest badminton governance body, Zulfadli said: “BAM has invited me to join the national team, but I need to start collecting 2016 Summer Olympics ranking points in May. If I join BAM, it may take me 6 months to 1 year to get use to the new coaching and training system at BAM.”
“However, if BAM really want to help, they could provide some training sessions for me every week,” added Zulfadli.
