China Masters: Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei, Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying in semis

Changzhou: Malaysia’s top women’s doubles pair Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei has checked into the China Masters semi-finals after they defeated Arisa Higashino/Chisato Hoshi of Japan on Friday.Good luck to Vivian Hoo (left) and Woon Khe Wei at the China Masters
The reigning Glasgow Commonwealth Games champions Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei gave an outstanding performance to dispatch the unseeded Japanese pair 21-15, 21-11 in a 33-minute quarter-final match in Changzhou, China. The top-seeded Malaysian pair will take on unseeded Chinese pair Tang Jinhua/Zhong Qianxin in the semi-final on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying held their nerve to carve out a hard-fought 22-20, 21-16 victory over Chayut Triyachart/Shinta Mulia Sari of Singapore in the mixed doubles quarter-final. The pair faces a huge challenge on Saturday when they will play top seeds Liu Cheng/Bao Yixin of China in the semi-finals.

Other Malaysians didn’t fare so well on Friday as mixed doubles pairs Tan Aik Quan/Lai Pei Jing lost to Chinese pair Liu Cheng/Bao Yixin 19-21, 28-21, and Tan Chee Tean/Shevon Jemie Lai went down to Wang Yilv/Tang Yuanting of China 11-21, 13-21; Malaysia’s independent men’s doubles pair Hoon Thien How/Lim Khim Wah also crashed out after losing to Liao Min Chun/Tseng Min Hao of Taiwan 16-21, 18-21.
