Bangkok: Goh Sze Fei/Aaron Chia Teng Fong of Malaysia lost to He Jiting/Zheng Siwei in a three-set thriller 17-21, 21-18, 12-21 as Malaysia suffered a 0-3 thrashing at the hands of China in the Asia Junior Championships mixed team quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Tuesday’s 0-3 loss to the China was Malaysian’s third consecutive quarter-final defeat since 2013, in which they’ve lost to Japan 1-3 in 2013, and to Chinese Taipei 2-3 in 2014.
Goh Jin Wei/Tan Jinn Hwa failed to win the opening match as Chen Qingchen/Zheng Siwei of China proved too strong in the mixed doubles, the Malaysian duo ended up losing 21-8, 21-8 in 26 minutes.
Cheam June Wei’s effort to level the tie at 1-1 to no avail, as his opponent, the 2014 Asia Junior men’s singles champion Lin Guipu recorded a decisive 21-5, 21-17 victory over the Malaysian in 36 minutes.
Despite came out blasting and delivered a more aggressive badminton, Goh Sze Fei/Aaron Chia Teng Fong of Malaysia couldn’t hold their early momentum to surrender the men’s doubles match to He Jiting/Zheng Siwei in 44 minutes.
In the semi-finals held later in the day, Korea rallied from a 1-2 deficit to beat Indonesia 3-2, while China ended the Japan’s campaigns in the Asia Junior Championships mixed team event by wrapping up a 3-0 semi-final victory in Bangkok on Tuesday afternoon.
China will set up a much-anticipated final clash with Korea on Wednesday. The two teams played each other in last year’s final, where the Chinese blew past the Korean by 3-0.
