Coach confident Chong Wei Feng has character to bounce back

Russia: Despite winning the men’s singles gold medal at the Singapore SEA Games in June, Malaysia’s top shuttler Chong Wei Feng has suffered back-to-back first round exits at both Canadian Open and Chinese Taipei Open in the last few weeks.Coach Tey Seu Bock gives advice to Chong Wei Feng during the training session.

Malaysia’s men’s singles coach Tey Seu Bock is urging Chong to go all out for victory at the Russian Open, adamant success in the competition will have a positive effect on his chance to qualify for the Rio Olympics.

“I believe Chong Wei Feng still has a lot of room for growth. He’d been working very hard to collect Olympic qualifying points for the 2016 Rio games,” said Seu Bock.

“I hope Wei Feng able to produce solid results at the Russian Open as he needs to show his worth to prove the critics wrong. He still has time to earn the Olympic qualifying points, but he needs to take up these challenges, now,” added Seu Bock.

“He should learn not to waste any more chances. He needs to work on improving his badminton skills, and do a better job on staying focused.”
