The Indonesians were never troubled by their lower seeding opponents from China in the final, sweeping the title match 21-17, 21-14 in 37 minutes to win in front of a roaring crowd.

Ahsan dropped his racket and fell to his knees after the Indonesian pair scored the crucial match point.

To make their victory more special, Ahsan/Setiawan have dedicated their victory as part of Independence Day celebrations for Indonesia.

“Even though we won the world title a day before the Independence Day, I’m very proud to be able to contribute the world title as an Independence Day gift for Indonesia,” said Setiawan.
