Copenhagen: While his partner Carsten Mogensen is still recovering from a ruptured brain aortic aneurysm, World No. 3 men’s doubles player Mathias Boe has been practicing with his new partner, Mathias Christiansen to get ready for the 2016 European Championships which is just about a month away.
The two have been handed wildcards for the tournament that will be held in La-Roche-Sur-Yon in the Vendee region of France from April 26 to May 1, and is the last event counting towards qualification for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
“We are currently training together in Brøndby Hall, and we are still trying to foster the mutual understanding between us. Let’s see how it goes,” said Boe.
While Mathias Boe had previously won gold medal at the 2012 European Championships with Carsten Mogensen after they defeated Michael Fuchs/Oliver Roth of Germany, the 2016 European Championships would be his first tournament together with Mathias Christiansen as men’s doubles partner.
“I am looking forward to it. Boe is the player I always look up to. I am trying to learn and to become a better shuttler while playing alongside him,” said Christiansen.
Mathias Christiansen will also partner with Lena Grebak in mixed doubles event at the 2016 European Championships.
