Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying crash out of Hong Kong Open

Peng Soon/Liu Ying who were seeded fourth in the tournament lost tamely in 12-21, 11-21 to Yoo Yeon Seong/Chang Ye Na of South Korea in 37 minutes.

It was the first time Peng Soon/Liu Ying lost to the South Korean pair after winning in three previous encounters.

In another match, Kian Meng/Pei Jing were bundled off in 16-21, 18-21 by Yugo Kobayashi/Misaki Matsutomo of Japan in 34 minutes.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi progressed into the main draw to join the other men’s doubles pairs of Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong, Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong and Lim Khim Wah/Ong Jian Guo.

Yew Sin/Ee Yi defeated Indonesia’s Hantoro/Fernando Kurniawan 13-21, 21-11, 21-14 and are scheduled to meet fifth seeds Mads Conrad-Petersen/Mads Pieler Kolding of Denmark.

In the main draw that will begin on Wednesday, V Shem/Wee Kiong will meet another Danish pair, Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen while Kien Keat/Boon Heong will face Kim Jae Hwan/Yoo Yeon Seong of South Korea and Kim Wah/Jian Guo will play Vladimir Ivanov/Ivan Sozonov of Russia.

Malaysia’s men’s singles player Chong Wei Feng will meet Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk of Thailand while Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin will face South Korean Son Wan Ho and Zulfadli Zulkifli will be up against host player Angus Ng Ka Long in the first round tomorrow.

In the women’s doubles, Malaysian pairs Chow Mei Kuan/Lee Meng Yean will meet Bao Yixin/ Yu Xiohan of China and Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei will face Natasha Herloardjo/ Rofahadah Supriadi Putri of Indonesia.
