Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian badminton star and the Rio Olympic silver medalist Goh Liu Ying has split her nearly nine year-old relationship with former Malaysian national team men’s doubles player Ong Jian Guo.
Ong has revealed that despite enjoying his time with Goh, he wished her all the best in her future endeavors.
Meanwhile, Goh also admitted they had broken up and would not comment further.
“Yes, the relationship between me and Jian Guo has become the past, but I do not want to talk about it now, I just want to focus more on the recovery of my knees,” said Goh.
In addition to the break-up, Goh who underwent knee surgeries in 2014 claimed her injuries have started bothering her again.
“I am having trouble with my knees again. I’ll have to take 3 stem-cell injections for each leg in the following two weeks to be ready for the Malaysian Masters in Sibu that will be held from Jan 17 to Jan 22,” added Goh.
Goh Liu Ying and Ong Jian Guo first began dating when they were 19 years old. Ong Jian Guo left Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) in Feb 2015. On the contrary, Goh Liu Ying reached her career peak when she and Chan Peng Soon won the mixed doubles silver medal in Rio Olympics.
