Kuala Lumpur: The 2015 World Junior champion Goh Jin Wei of Malaysia may have to delay her dream of playing in her first All England championships after small fractured chip was found over her anterior cuboid, as quoted by a message she posted on her Facebook page on Saturday.
Goh competed in the Malaysia Masters that was held from Jan 17 to Jan 22 in Sibu despite carrying an ankle injury. As she has taken lightly on her injury, she twisted her ankle during her first-round match and was knocked out by unseeded Lee Chia-hsin of Taiwan 12-21, 10-21 in the second round.
Badminton Association of Malaysia technical director Morten Frost was pretty ticked off that Goh has not been truthful about her condition during the Malaysia Open, and has dropped Goh from the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships, starting 14 February in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
“She may be thinking she can get away with this due to her good performances, but she is in the senior badminton now, she needs to grow up,” said Frost.
After Goh’s withdrawal, Malaysia will not have any women’s singles representatives in this year’s All England.
Meanwhile, Malaysia will send Lee Chong Wei, Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin (men’s singles), Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong (men’s doubles), Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei (women’s doubles), Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying, Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing (mixed doubles) to the 2017 All England.
