Misbun Ramdan advances as Zulfadli Zulkiffli exits Malaysian national championships

Ipoh: The 2012 Malaysian national champion Misbun Ramdan who has been out of action for almost two year with an Achilles tendon injury, swept to a  21-14, 10-21, 21-10 over R. However, No. 2 seed Zulfadli Zulkiffli who won the championships in 2014, suffered a shock defeat on Thursday against No. 7 seed Chong Yee Han. The former World Junior Champion lost the first set to Chong 17-21, then retired in the second set to hand the victory to Chong.

Chong Yee Han will set up a semi-final clash with Misbun Ramdan on Friday, while former Malaysian national player Daren Liew will take on Lim Chi Wing (BAM) in other semi-final.

In mixed doubles, World No. 9 and No. 1 seeds Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing will take on Chan Peng Soon/Chow Mei Kuan in the semi-final, while the No. 2 seeds Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Jemie Lai will play Hoo Pang Ron/Peck Yen Wei on Friday.
