Kolding: Rio Olympic women’s singles gold medalist Carolina Marin of Spain beat Kirsty Gilmour of Scotland in the women’s singles final to win her third European Badminton Championships on Sunday.
The 23-year-old Marin was barely troubled by Gilmour, an opponent she has defeated 4 times prior to the final, when Marin dominated the final from start to finish to lift the women’s singles title with 21-14, 21-12 in 43 minutes.
In men’s singles, Rajiv Ouseph of England became just the third player from England to win the men’s singles title at the European Championships with victory over home favorite Anders Antonsen of Denmark, beating the Dane 21-19, 21-19 in the final.
Chris and Gabby Adcock captured their first European Championships title when they won a tight final 21-17, 18-21, 21-19 against Denmark’s No. 1 seeds Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen in 78 minutes.
Men’s doubles No. 1 seeds Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen of Denmark held firm against a furious fightback from fellow teammates and No. 2 seeds Mads Conrad-Petersen/Mads Pieler Kolding, edging their compatriots 21-16, 22-20 to win their second European Badminton title.
In women’s doubles, No. 1 seeds Kamilla Rytter Juhl/Christinna Pedersen of Denmark defeated No. 2 seeds Gabriela Stoeva/Stefani Stoeva of Bulgaria 21-11, 15-21, 21-11 to take home their fourth European Badminton gold.
