Indonesian badminton players and officials arrive in Madrid

London (ANTARA News) – Some 11 Indonesian badminton players and officials arrived at the International Barajas Airport, Madrid, Spain, on Thursday morning to take part in the World Badminton Championship 2006 in Madrid, September 18-24. Led by team manager Lius Pongoh, the team was greeted by Second Secretary of the Indonesian Embassy in Madrid, Yoshi Iskandar, a statement from the embassy said on Thursday.

The badminton players are Taufik Hidayat, Sony Dwi Kuncoro, Luluk Hadiyanto, Alvent Yulianto, Markis Kido, Hendra Setiawan, Nova Widianto Fransisca Ratnasari, Jo Novita, Greysia Polii and Lilyana.

They were accompanied by Mulyo Handoyo, Herry Iman Pierngadi and Richard Mainaky and officials of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) Ferrial Sofyan and Rudy Hartono.

During the competition, the Indonesian athletes and officials will stay at the Convencion Hotel and start practicing at the Spanish National Training Centre – Joaquin Blume Madrid on September 18.
