BEIJING: Indonesia’s Sony Dwi Kuncoro defeated Chen Jin of China in straight sets to take the China Masters badminton tournament men’s singles title on Sunday.
Dwi Kuncoro’s win comes on the heels of his victory a week earlier in the Japan Open, giving him further consolation after he crashed out of last month’s Beijing Olympics.
Meanwhile, Zhou Mi of Hong Kong edged out Chinese rookie Wang Lin for the singles final at the tournament in the city of Changzhou.
The three-set match went to Zhou, 21-19, 19-21, 21-16.
Dwi Kuncoro beat an injury-nagged Chen in two sets for the men’s title, 21-19, 21-18.
