Wan Wah-Tan Fook Have Asia In Sight

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 (Bernama) — Former national doubles pair Lee Wan Wah- Choong Tan Fook will continue to participate in the Asian stage of the Super Series Championship next season.

The duo who quit the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) fold to turn professional said except for Japan, they would be competing in the China Open, Malaysia Open and the Taiwan Open.

“Since leaving BAM, we had to find sponsors, fix matches and train without help from a manager or coach. We are confident of making it on our own,” Wan Wah said after signing a two year sponsorship agreement with a local sports apparel company at Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara here today.

He said initially, they found the transition to become professional players tough as BAM was no longer around but they prevailed and had even found themselves a sponsor.

“BAM still allows us to train daily at Stadium Juara until an alternative site is found,” he added.

Wan Wah-Tan Fook are down for three season ending championships starting with the Johor Open on Nov 11, Super Series China Open in Shanghai from Nov 18-23 and the Vietnam Open from Dec 2-7.

The pair’s last outing under BAM was during the Beijing Olympics where they returned home empty handed.
