Saarbrücken: Carolina Marín secured her 7th consecutive women’s singles European Championships title, while Anders Antonsen clinched his 2nd European Championships men’s singles title after 2021.

The European Badminton Championships staged its finals on Sunday, with the defending champion and top seed Carolina Marin of Spain facing Scotland’s 4th seed Kirsty Gilmour in the women’s singles final. After 47 minutes of effort, Marin emerged victorious with a score of 21-11, 21-18, achieving a remarkable 7th consecutive title since her 2014 victory.
In the men’s singles final, Danish player Anders Antonsen defeated Toma Junior Popov of France with a score of 21-18, 21-13, securing his second crown after 2021.
This marks Antonsen’s third championship win of the year, following victories at the Malaysian Open and Indonesia Masters in January.
In men’s doubles, Danish top seeds Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen defeated compatriots Andreas Søndergaard/Jesper Toft with a score of 21-16, 21-15 in an all-Danish final, securing their second title after 2018.
In women’s doubles, French second seeds Margot Lambert/Anne Tran overcame Bulgarian sisters Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva with a score of 16-21, 21-17, 21-11, claiming their first European title. This also marks France’s first-ever victory in the European Championships women’s doubles, ending Gabriela and Stefani’s dream of winning a fourth consecutive title.
On Saturday, Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue of France overcame Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Bøje of Denmark 21-16, 21-15 to win the mixed doubles gold medal.
