Bangkok: Malaysia’s world no. 9 mixed doubles pair, Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei, is closing in on their first final of the season after securing a spot in the semi-finals of the 2024 Thailand Masters on Friday.

Highlights of Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei vs. Robin Tabeling/Selena Piek in the 2024 Thailand Masters quarter-finals:

Placed as the second seeds, Chen/Toh lived up to expectations by defeating the world no. 15 Dutch pair, Robin Tabeling/Selena Piek, with a score of 21-12, 25-23 in the quarterfinals at Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.

This achievement marks a significant resurgence in confidence for Chen/Toh, who faced setbacks in the earlier three tournaments of the season, exiting in the second round of the Malaysia Open, India Open, and Indonesia Masters.

However, Chen/Toh are expected to face a tough challenge in their quest for the final as they are scheduled to take on the rising world no. 11 Japanese pair, Hiroki Midorikawa/Natsu Saito, in the semi-finals.

Midorikawa and Saito advanced to the top four by defeating the Thai representatives, Ruttanapak Oupthong/Jhenicha Sudjaiprapat, with a score of 21-16, 21-16.
