Jonatan Christie To Play Li Shifeng In French Open Final

Paris: Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie, world No. 6, displayed his excellent defensive skills in Paris, defeating Singapore’s world No. 9 Loh Kean Yew with a score of 21-18, 21-13. This impressive victory earned him a spot in the French Open final where he will face China’s current All England and Asian Games champion, Li Shi Feng.

Li, on the other hand, had a comfortable win by defeating Malaysia’s Ng Tze Yong with a score of 21-17, 21-12 in the semi-final match, extending his winning streak over Ng to 5-0 in their head-to-head encounters.

The men’s doubles runners-up of the 2023 world championships, Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, continued their impressive form by beating China’s Liu Yu Chen/Ou Xuan Yi 21-17, 21-19. They will compete against last week’s Denmark Open runners-up Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana in the final. Fikri/Maulana’s victory took 70 minutes to secure, fighting a tough battle over He Ji Ting/Ren Xiang Yu of China by winning 21-16, 19-21, 22-20.

In women’s singles, Tai Tzu Ying from Chinese Taipei will face China’s Chen Yufei in what is sure to be an exciting showdown on Sunday.

China also has pairs competing in the mixed doubles and women’s doubles finals. Jiang Zhen Bang/Wei Ya Xin will play Hong Kong’s Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet in the mixed doubles final while Liu Sheng Shu/Tan Ning are set to face Jongkolphan Kititharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai from Thailand in the women’s doubles final.
