Sindhu, ranked No. 17 on Forbes’ “World’s Highest-Paid Female Athletes 2024” list with earnings of USD $7.1 million, married Venkata Datta Sai, an Executive Director at a Hyderabad-based company, on Sunday, December 22, 2024.
The wedding, held in Udaipur, was attended by close family and friends. Sindhu looked stunning in traditional Indian bridal attire as she exchanged vows with Sai, marking a joyous beginning to their new life together.

In an interview last week, Sindhu shared the story of how the couple met.
“We’ve been family friends for a long time,” she revealed. Sai chimed in, “It’s been almost 10 years. We first met in 2013.”
Sindhu added, “At that time, it was just a casual acquaintance. We would meet occasionally. Then, once we met on a flight, and that’s when we started talking more.”
Sai recounted the memorable flight that sparked their connection. “It was a Vistara flight from Hyderabad to Delhi. We ended up on the same flight again months later. I always joke that she messaged me first, so I’m off the hook for making the first move!” he said with a laugh.
Sindhu recalled the exchange fondly. “I just asked, ‘Have you reached?’ and ‘Have you left the airport?’ At that time, it was just a friendly conversation. My focus was always on badminton. After the Olympics, things changed, and we decided to take our relationship forward.”
The couple’s wedding photos, shared by Sindhu on social media, captured their happiness and love. In her post, she included a series of stunning images from the ceremony accompanied by a simple heart emoji, winning hearts across the internet.
