Kenichi Tago, Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying knocked out of Denmark Open

Copenhagen: Kenichi Tago suffered another shock early exit at the Denmark Open as he was knocked out in his opening qualifying match by world No 136 Kim Bruun of Denmark.

The world No. 39 Japanese was struggling to close out the match after he took the first set 21-11, but squandered a leading a 17-14 lead to lose to Bruun 17-21 in the second set. Tago’s stamina was no longer what it used to be, he struggled to adjust to the fast-paced game in the third set played by Bruun, who eventually wrapped up the 63 minutes match by brushing aside the Japanese 21-16 in the third set.Hope Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying can make huge breakthrough at their upcoming Superseries events.

Chen Long, Wang Yihan win Chinese Taipei Open

Another shot at glory for Hiroyuki-Kenichi (pic)

BIRMINGHAM: After falling short in the final last year, Japan’s Hiroyuki Endo-Kenichi Hayakawa made sure they gave themselves another shot at winning the prestigious All-England badminton championships.

Last year, Endo-Hayakawa made a superb run to the final only to lose to China’s Liu Xiaolong-Qiu Zihan.Last year's losing All-England finalists Hiroyuki Endo-Kenichi Hayakawa will try to go one better when they take on Mohd Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan in the men's doubles final on Sunday.

On Saturday, world No.2 Endo-Hayakawa nearly missed the ticket to the final as they fell behind against a fiery onslaught by South Korea’s Ko Sung-hyun-Shin Baek-cheol.

The second seeds however regained their composure to pummel the Koreans for a 16-21, 21-17, 21-13 win.

It was just rewards for the ever-consistent Endo-Hayakawa who have been ranked in the top four for the past two years.
