Tai Tzu Ying receives warm welcome home
Taiwan: It was warm welcome home on Monday for Taiwanese badminton player Tai Tzu-ying who won women’s singles title in the prestigious Badminton World Federation’s World Superseries Finals last Sunday.
Upon her return at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, she said she didn’t think too much when playing her matches and felt fortunate to even be in the tournament because she did not qualify for it until late in the year.
Lee Yong-dae & Yoo Yeon-seong end the year on a high
Dubai: Lee Yong-dae, 26, and Yoo Yeon-seong, 28, had a photo taken with the back ground of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s highest building, to celebrate their victory on Sunday night. The two Korean badminton players smiled brightly with their thumbs up to the 163-story building. They claimed the BWF Destination Dubai World Superseries title in men’s doubles at the Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai, which is 20 minutes from the 828-meter tall building by car.

Tai Tzu Ying outlasts Sung Ji Hyun to win Dubai Superseries Finals
Dubai: Taiwan’s Tai Tzu Ying claimed the women’s singles title with a 21-17, 21-12 win over South Korea’s Sung Ji Hyun at the BWF Destination Dubai World Superseries Finals on Sunday.
Making up for her failed attempt last year, Tai showed an early resolve as she led 11-3 at the first change-over. Sung tried to use her superior reach and out-fox her shorter opponent. But Tai showed versatility often catching Sung off-guard to take the first set 21-17.

Chen Long wins BWF World Superseries title in Dubai
Dubai: World number two Chen Long of China finished 2014 on a high note by winning the Dubai BWF (Badminton World Federation) World Superseries Finals men’s singles title on Sunday, cruising past Denmark shuttler Hans-Kristian Vittinghus 21-16, 21-10 in 47 minutes.

Tai Tzu Ying defeats Saina Nehwal in semis of Dubai Superseries Finals
Dubai: Olympic bronze medalist Saina Nehwal lost 21-11, 13-21, 9-21 to Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying in the semi-final of the $1,000,000 Badminton World Federation (BWF) Superseries Finals at the Hamdan Sports Complex here Saturday.
World No.4 Saina had a very good start in the first game but the 2014 Asian Games bronze medalist Tai produced an array of deceptive drop shots and combated Saina’s smashes with sharp net play to win the match in 55 minutes.

Chen Long vs Hans-Kristian Vittinghus at 2014 Dubai Superseries final
Dubai: China’s World champion and tournament top seed Chen Long survived a scare against India’s Kidambi Srikanth tonight on his way to the men’s finals of the BWF Destination Dubai World Superseries Finals.
Srikanth, India’s remaining hope in the competition, and the 2014 China Open winner, started strongly and raced to an 18-15 lead in the first game before Chen found his rhythm, eventually running out the winner 21-18, 21-9.

Saina Nehwal to play Tai Tzu Ying in semis of Dubai Superseries Finals
Dubai: India’s badminton ace Saina Nehwal topped her group to march into the women’s singles semifinals at the BWF World Super Series Finals on Friday.
The World No.4 Saina, a 2011 finalist at the prestigious event, fought back from a set down to better South Korea’s world number eight Bae Yeon-ju 15-21, 21-7, 21-17 to top Group A with a perfect record.

Saina Nehwal continues to thrive on Day 2 Dubai Superseries Finals
Dubai: World number four Saina Nehwal of India who got the better of reigning Asian Games champion Wang Shixian in her opener yesterday, extended her domination over South Korea’s Sung Ji Hyun with an emphatic 21-12, 21-18 victory on Thursday. It was Saina’s fifth win against Sung in six career meetings though the Indian had lost last time they played each other in the 2013 Denmark Open.
