Well-known tracking system Hawk-Eye technology, used in many sports like tennis to determine line calls, was introduced in the quarter final of India Open Super Series.
After testing several instant-review systems, Badminton World Federation (BWF) eventually chose Hawk-Eye Innovations to provide instant-reviews for major badminton events. Hawk-Eye Innovations will provides its Hawk-Eye’s popular graphics implementation which able to pinpoints the exact spot where a shuttle lands. BWF will integrate the system gradually with the in-venue video boards and live worldwide broadcast feed, allowing fans to see instant reviews and decisions on some controversial calls. The system consists of eight cameras at 4 corners of the court, which are more accurate than the ones used for television.
